The mighty fall
Every dog has its day. Mighty Be Forward’s honeymoon yesterday came to an abrupt end at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre when visiting Blue Eagles stunned the Lali Lubani side 2-1 in a thrilling TNM Super League encounter.
After going four games unbeaten, the Nomads thought they were in promised land until the Malawi Police Service (MPS) side invaded Blantyre to teach them a lesson.
In the past four games the Nomads have hugely relied on in form striker Peter Wadabwa.
This gave the MPS side an easier task—the cops simply put Wadabwa under arrest denying him any chance of making his manoeuvres from deep to upfront.
One would think with Wadabwa in police custody, Nigerian striker Amos Bello would rise to the occasion, but that never happened.

After starting strongly in the first 15 minutes, it was the visitors that stole the show with Maxwell Salambula and former Nomads player Victor Nyirenda tormenting the Nomads back four.
Blessed with the capability of using both legs effortlessly, Salambula claimed the first goal in the 30th minute in a solo effort after dribbling past Kabango and Namwela with his left foot.
With his two central defenders beaten, Nomads goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa did the only sensible thing by charging towards the rampaging striker.
Salambula saw Chipuwa leave his line, he hoodwinked to shoot with his right foot only to switch to his right and placed the ball in the opposite direction.
The second half saw the Nomads playing catch-up but a timely substitution paid dividends in the 63rd minute when Jaffalie Chande equalised with his first touch after replacing Bello.
He shot far post past Blue Eagles goalkeeper Chikondi Majanga.
The visitors responded by stepping up their act and claimed the winner from a spot kick after defender Boston Kabango handled in the box.
Gilbert Chirwa sent Chipuwa the wrong way and it was over for the Nomads who remain on position seven with 20 points.
Assistant coach Wilson Chidati said: “I think we were tactically disciplined,” he said.
Blue Eagles have replaced Mafco on position two with 25 points.
“It was a tough game. Congratulations to Blue Eagles,” Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira said.
